Pensacola Marathon Partners With Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research for 2015 Race
The Pensacola Sports Association (PSA) is pleased to announce the Pensacola Marathon Presented by Publix has partnered with Rally Foundation for childhood cancer research (Rally) for the 2015 event. The 11th annual marathon event will be used as a vehicle to bring more awareness to their cause and ultimately raise more funds.
Rally is a national 501(c)3 non-profit based in Atlanta, GA. The mission of Rally is to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. Currently, childhood cancer research receives less than 4% of all federal funding for cancer. Rally seeks to fill that gap and raise money to find better treatments with fewer long-term side effects and ultimately cures for childhood cancer. Since its inception nine years ago, Rally has awarded over $7 million in research grants across the country. More information can be found at https://www.rallyfoundation.org/.
Participants will have the opportunity to make a donation during the registration process as well as at the two-day packet pick-up and expo held at the Crowne Plaza Pensacola Grand Hotel on Nov. 6 and 7, 2015. Rally will be present at the expo and packet pick-up with information and ways to accept donations.
Additionally, local Pensacolian Cindi Bonner has created Team #MoreThanFour, which is recruiting runners and supporters to raise awareness and funds for Rally in honor of children fighting cancer.
The 11th running of the Pensacola Marathon Presented by Publix is Sunday, Nov. 8. To register for the Pensacola Marathon or for more information on these charities and how to get involved, visit www. marathonpensacola.com.
"We are excited about this opportunity to use the Pensacola Marathon as a vehicle to partner and raise funds and awareness for such a quality organization in the Rally Foundation," said Pensacola Sports Association Executive Director Ray Palmer. "We believe having Rally and Cindi involved from a local stand point is going to enhance the overall event and be a positive experience for everyone involved."
