Originally incorporated in 1955, the Pensacola Sports Association (PSA) is a private not-for-profit agency and one of the oldest sports commissions in the country.
PSA's annual events include the Pensacola Double Bridge Run, Annual Awards Banquet, High School All-Star Football, Volleyball, Soccer, Softball and Baseball games, Senior Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet, Racquet Roundup tennis clinics, Bud Light Charity Challenge Tennis Tournament and Pensacola Marathon.
PENSACOLA SPORTS ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION
The Pensacola Sports Association (PSA) Foundation is accepting applications for its 2015 grant program. Community organizations involved in providing youth sports opportunities are eligible to apply for funding. Applications are due December 3, 2014.
Grant application forms can be downloaded from the Pensacola Sports Association website - (see link at the end of this story) and may be either mailed to the Pensacola Sports Association, P.O. Box 12463, Pensacola FL 32591, or delivered to the PSA office downtown at 101 W. Main Street, Pensacola FL 32502.
The mission of the Pensacola Sports Association Foundation is to "To provide financial support which will inspire, encourage, and nurture the youth of Northwest Florida through sports related activities."
The SUBWAY High School All-Star Series 2014-15 season presented by the Andrews Institute got underway last night with the All-Star Volleyball Game played at UWF.
West overcame being down 3 to 1 and won the night's best-of-seven format.
Congratulations to Sina Faulk of Catholic and Sami Mims of Niceville who were recognized as the Most Valuable Players.
The SUBWAY High School All-Star Series, organized by the Pensacola Sports Association, recognizes senior athletes in volleyball, football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's baseball, and women's softball from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa County. Sponsors include Academy Sports & Outdoors, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, David Bowen's Sporting Goods, COX, MediaCom, and WEAR-TV3.
Since its creation with the inaugural football game in 2004, over 2,900 of the finest athletes from Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties have showcased their skills for college scouts, family and classmates and built friendships with former on-field rivals.
The Singles Championship of the 2014 Pensacola Futures Pro Mens Circuit tournament scheduled for 10:00 AM Sunday morning has been rescheduled for a 4:00 pm start at the Roger Scott Tennis Center. Competing for the Championship are Theo Fournerie of France and Ben McLachlan of New Zealand.
Congratulations are due to the Doubles team of Ben McLachlan and Justin Shane for their winning of the 2014 Doubles Championship.
