Make plans to join us at the 2010 Pensacola Double Bridge Run on February 6th in the best RACE TO THE BEACH yet!
Pre-race festivities begin on Thursday, February 4th with the opening of the Race Expo at the host hotel, the Hilton Gulf Front Pensacola Beach. Late registration and packet pickup will be there beginning at 4:00 Thursday afternoon.
Friday the Expo and late registration are from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m. and include a session with motivational speaker Dick Beardsley at 5:30, followed by complimentary dinner at Hemingway's for race participants (guests can buy ticket to dinner for just $5). You will need to make reservations for the dinner no later than January 29th as space is limited. Email Janet Olliff (jolliff@pensacolasports.com) to make your reservations.

Saturday morning the 15K will begin at 7:00 a.m. and the 5K at 8:00 a.m., but don't wait 'til the last minute as there will be no Day of Race Registration.

NEW PSA BOARD MEMBERS

We are pleased to welcome the following new PSA Board members in 2010: Jackie Brown (Santa Rosa County Schools), Craig Dalton (Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce), Bill Emerson (Santa Rosa County School District), Rick Johnson (Coastal Bank and Trust), Ron Pulley (City of Gulf Breeze Parks Department), Jake Renfroe (Renfroe pecan Co.), Ted Roy (Escambia County Sheriff's Office), Jeff Vannoy (Vannoy's Tires), Bruce Vredenburg (Hancock Bank), Monroe Watley (Winn-Dixie) and David Williams (David Williams, DDS).

New President of the Board in 2010 is Norm Ross (Escambia County School District), and he is assisted on the Executive Committee by Ted Gund (Saltmarsh, Cleaveland and Gund), Charlie Sherrill (Sherrill Appraisal Co.), Jeff Rogers (Gulf Power Co.), Jason Libbert (Pensacola Pelicans), John Panyko (Attorney at Law), and Bill Healey (University of West Florida).

ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

Who will be the Sportsman of the Year for 2009?
You'll find that out at the PSA Annual Awards Banquet - when the Amateur Athlete of the Year, Professional Athlete of the Year and inductees to the PSA Hall of Fame are introduced. Plans are underway for a very special evening honoring local athletes, including the State Championship Pensacola High School football team.
With two local players on the National Championship University of Alabama football team there seems to be a strong football-themed thread; however, there will also be recognition for track and field, tennis, soccer, golf and much more.
Date and time for the banquet will be announced soon........and tickets will go on sale at the PSA office when that date is set.
