The 2009 Redfish Cup, the nation’s premier saltwater fishing series, will kick off the Crown Royal Redfish Cup Championship presented by Academy this weekend with Net Gains, a free kids fishing and conservation clinic at Academy Sports + Outdoor (8102 N. Davis Hwy) Thursday, Sept. 24 from 5–6 p.m. The Redfish Cup pros will provide hands-on experience for local youth enabling them to learn from the best saltwater anglers in the nation. The clinic welcomes young fishing fans ages seven and up to come learn about casting techniques, knot-tying and conservation principles as they move from station to station. At the conclusion of the clinic, all attendees will receive a Redfish Cup goodie bag and a photo with the anglers. Now in its seventh season, the Redfish Cup has become the nation’s premier saltwater fishing championship. The Crown Royal Redfish Cup Championship presented by Academy is the Redfish Cup season finale taking place during the 32nd annual Pensacola Seafood Festival Friday, Sept. 25-Sunday, Sept. 27. Only the top 21 angler teams out the original 56 will battle for saltwater supremacy and a $50,000 cash purse during the championship event. To attend Net Gains, RSVP to Hank Weldon at 770-955-1300.
