Senior Scholar-Athletes recognized at Awards Banquet

The PSA recognized 209 senior scholar-athletes from Escambia and Santa Rosa county schools on Tuesday, May 13th with a banquet in their honor.
21 individual sport winners received scholarships from Pensacola Junior College, and two overall winners received $2,500 scholarships from the PSA Foundation to be used at the college of their choice.

Two recipients of full-tuition scholarships to the University of West Florida were also announced at the PSA Senior Scholar-Athlete Banquet.
Those winners were:
Amber Ingram (softball) - Catholic High School
Robert Elsas (soccer) - Navarre High School

The winners of the Gary McAdams Memorial Scholarships (based on a combination of academic success, athletic achievement, and overcoming adversity):
Whitney Harris of Gulf Breeze High School and
Jared Thomas of Pensacola High School

High School All-Star Baseball and Softball

The PSA and the Pensacola Pelicans present the High School All-Star Baseball and Softball games on Tuesday, May 27th at Pelican Park.

Pre-game festivities begin at 6:00 p.m., and both games will be played at 6:30.

The East vs. West format pits seniors from Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties against the top senior players from Escambia county schools.
For some players, this will be their last game, for others, it will be the beginning of the next level of competition. For everyone, it is one last time to represent their schools and their counties on the playing field.

RACQUET ROUNDUP DATES SET

This year's 31st Annual Racquet Roundup tennis clinics will be held June 4th - 6th at Scott Tennis Center in Pensacola and June 11th - 13th at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze.

These free clinics are open to kids from 6 to 12 years of age.

Enrollment is limited to the first 300 kids at each clinic, and deadline for registration is Friday, May 30th. Registration forms are availabe at Scott Tennis Center, Shoreline Park, the PSA office at 101 West Main Street in downtown Pensacola, the Pensacola Racquet Club, YMCAs and other recreation centers.
