Double Bridge Run the biggest ever!

The 2006 Pensacola Double Bridge Run was hugely successful! Not only did the race receive more runners than ever before, but the race has been deemed the largest road race in Pensacola’s history!

2,710 runners plus 1,800 Marines came out to participate in the annual event. The University of West Florida’s men’s and women’s cross country teams dominated the event, placing first in the men’s and women’s 5K run, as well as the men’s and women’s 15K run. Full results can be seen at www.runresults.net. Pictures can also be seen in the gallery section of our website and at www.brightroom.com.

The post-race party at Hooters/Bamboo Willie’s was kickin! Almost everyone stayed and enjoyed free Hooters chicken wings and beer. Awards were presented during the party, and everyone enjoyed seeing all the kids getting their medals. Scoop, the mascot for the Pensacola Pelicans, was also on-hand to provide entertainment. It was definitely a party to remember!

2007 is the 10th Anniversary for the Double Bridge Run. So, if you’re already looking forward to next year, mark your calendars for February 3, 2007!
